A 1st Birthday is an important turn of events, a marking of survival for the parents….And the start of a whole new realm for your baby-toddlerhood! What better way to mark the occasion than a low key party! (This is a joke, obviously we went all out!)
Sadie was born in May and on returning home from the hospital our cherry blossom tree that never seemed to bloom, had flourished while I had been in hospital! I will never forget being greeted by the fluffy pink blossom in our front garden. From then on it seemed like Sadie loved a flower, so it only seemed fair to celebrate in true Sadie style! Flowers everywhere! 🌸 I had previously done a bit of crafting with pink floral garlands and remembered I had metres of it in the garage, so I draped it from lights and created a base decoration for the kitchen area.
We were kindly gifted some items from Party pieces for the occasion so let me show you how we styled our at home party.
We chose the Floral baby girl theme intended for baby showers but versatile enough for any party! Especially our little floral princess. I used this Happy Birthday bunting to set the scene in the kitchen and add a bit of glimmer. It provided the perfect backdrop to the all important first birthday picture of blowing out, or in our case trying to eat the candles!
Then I thought the table decorating kit would be perfect to place around the cake to tie everything together. It went well with the yummy vanilla Buttercream sponge cake a family member had kindly made and it looked perfect on the desert table providing the floral injection we needed.
The cake and deserts were plentiful, cheesecakes, pavalova and trifle were served on these floral plates marked with ‘sweet baby girl!’ Which is exactly what she is to everyone, and just like her they were the perfect addition to the decor. As well as the napkins which provided something to soak up my tears…just kidding!
In the living room we used this Pom Pom bunting and clipped little photos up showcasing her first year. It was super sturdy and just using a wooden peg kept everything secured. Everyone loved looking back at her first year, my husband was pleased as it saved me sticking the photos to a wall…which I may have done before and he may have had to repaint it! Oops! my husband made his famous citrus and strawberry non alcoholic punch and naturally it was served in pale pink paper cups! Always a hit with the kids and adults alikeWe were thankful for the weather, while it was sunny there was a bite in the air but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. The kids spent the afternoon playing and bouncing on the bouncy house. Finally the day ended in the late afternoon following a photo shoot in front of none other than a flower wall! It was low key….promise!
Thanks for stopping by!
